Blackberry Bold is unusable in my giant hands.
Geek on the street.
This was my gateway drug.
The iPod Mini. I bought it in blue despite swearing I would buy the green one. I even went to the Apple Store with the promise I would not buy one unless they had the green one in stock.
I had saved my money for quite awhile and I was excited.
They did not have the green one. They did have the blue one. So I caved and bought it.
I had broken a promise to a friend to not spend the money unless I got exactly what I had wanted. However, in the end, I did. I got precisely what I wanted.
The green iPod was not the shade of green in person I was hoping for as I saw on the display model and I was afraid the Blue would be too powder blue. But it wasn’t. It was a beautiful, rich, metallic blue that called out to me.
That little iPod wanted to come home with me, so I granted its wish and fulfilled my desire to own what I was coveting most at the time.
I had my little blue iPod Mini and it served me well for many years. I was very happy with it and it did not fail me. It fell out of fashion when I picked up a black 30GB iPod Video years later. It eventually got sold to a student at VCU who replied to my Craigslist ad because I needed the money.
I will always remember the little Blue iPod Mini as my gateway drug into the Apple universe. It was solid, indestructible even in my possession, which was a major plus as I am hard on my things. It never died. It never gave up. It was scratched and worn but it still performed perfectly.
I came across this one recently at a friend’s house and had to grab a quick shot of it since it reminded me of that happy day I bought one of its kin into my home and into my life.
The calm before the storm.
The day Hurricane Irene was scheduled to bring the fury raining down upon us it started it was beautiful out. Then it started to drizzle.
This is one of my absolute favorite shots. I walked into the lobby of our condo and past the huge windows covered in drops. I love rain drops. I love storms.
We were very fortunate with Hurricane Irene. We were not hit hard new only lost power for about 8 hours. I am thankful that’s all we got from it. There are still people entering their 7th day without power.
Always be thankful for what you have.
I’ve ridden the escalator at Target many times but it was only when my wife went clothes shopping and I had time to wander.
As I looked down to the lower level I was mesmerized by the people riding the escalator. I took a pile of photos and would have spent longer but I got self-conscious as Target staff started walking by me. Next time I am upstairs there I want to to take more.
Just goes to show, the little things we take for granted everyday can be something special if we let it.
Does this look like your office? This is the life of an IT worker. We are shoved into basements and other subterranean levels. We’re the mole people of the corporate world. We are vital to a company’s success but respected about as much as the cleaning crew. Neither of us perform glamorous work, but you’d notice if we weren’t there. That’s the hallmark of our work. No one notices us when things go well, but the moment we’re absent or make a mistake, we are painfully apparent. This is the life I’ve chosen and the burden I bear. What do you do for a living and where do you work?
I have a bit of a silly streak. While shopping in Home Goods I found a huge magnifying glass. I could not resist its charm.
The moment I saw it I picked it up and could not stop giggling to myself as I roamed around the store pretending to be a detective.
I almost bought it. If it wasn’t $25 I would have. I got 20 minutes of enjoyment and maniacal giggling so it was well worth it.
Elementary, my dear Watson!
The beautiful view out the back window of our rented house in Las Vegas for a family reunion. There were hummingbirds in the morning then a babbling stream with water falls in the afternoon and small children everywhere.
Have you ever enjoyed a slice of cheeseburger? This slice of the “9 Pound Burger” weighing in at a whopping 15 pounds from BGR: The Burger Joint was part of my going-away lunch from my last job. It was very well cooked. Moist and flavorful on a custom-made bun. It was a great meal and a lot of fun to see such a giant burger.
